President Prabowo Witnesses US$38.4 Billion Investment Deals at Washington Business Summit

Washington, D.C., The Gulf Observer: Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto witnessed the signing of 11 strategic agreements valued at US$38.4 billion between Indonesian and American companies during a high-level business summit in Washington.

The agreements were formalized at the US Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday as part of a roundtable session hosted by the US-ASEAN Business Council. The partnerships span key sectors including mining and downstream processing, energy, agribusiness, textiles and garments, furniture manufacturing, and advanced technology.

Critical Minerals and Energy Cooperation

A landmark critical minerals cooperation pact was signed by Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Perkasa Roeslani alongside executives from Freeport-McMoRan and PT Freeport Indonesia, underscoring Indonesia’s growing role in the global supply chain for strategic resources.

In the energy sector, state-owned Pertamina signed an oilfield recovery cooperation agreement with Halliburton, aimed at enhancing production efficiency and technological collaboration.

Expanding Agribusiness and Textile Partnerships

Agribusiness cooperation featured a major corn-sector agreement involving PT Cargill Indonesia, PT Arena Agro Andalan, and Cargill Inc, reflecting expanded trade in agricultural commodities.

In the cotton sector, two separate agreements were signed between Busana Apparel Group and the National Cotton Council of America, as well as between Daehan Global and the same US council, strengthening textile supply chains between the two countries.

Textile sustainability initiatives were also highlighted through a shredded worn-clothing recycling agreement involving the Indonesian Garment and Textile Association, PT Pan Brothers, and US-based Ravel.

Furniture and Wood Industry Collaboration

The furniture sector saw cooperation agreements between the Indonesian Furniture Industry and Handicraft Association (ASMINDO) and Bingaman and Son Lumber. Another agreement was signed between the Indonesian Furniture and Handicraft Industry Association (HIMKI) and the American Hardwood Export Council, enhancing trade in wood products and handicrafts.

Technology and Free Trade Zone Initiatives

Technology partnerships included three agreements involving Galang Bumi Industri (GBI), including semiconductor cooperation with Essence and collaboration with Tynergy Technology Group. Additionally, GBI signed a transnational free trade zone cooperation agreement with Solanna Group LLC, aimed at facilitating cross-border industrial development.

According to Indonesia’s presidential media team, the US$38.4 billion in agreements reflect growing international confidence in Indonesia’s economic trajectory and reinforce its strategic position within the Indo-Pacific region.

The government has pledged to closely oversee the implementation of the agreements to ensure they deliver tangible benefits for the national economy and contribute to sustainable development goals.
