President Serdar Berdimuhamedov Appoints New Leadership in Oil and Gas Sector

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, on Friday appointed several new leaders in the country’s oil and gas sector during an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, according to the state news program Watan habarlary.
During the session, the President relieved Batyr Amanov of his duties as Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers overseeing the oil and gas complex. He appointed Guvanch Agajanov, who previously served as Chairman of the Türkmennebit State Concern, to the post.
President Berdimuhamedov also accepted the retirement of Ashyrguly Begliyev, who had been serving as Presidential Advisor on oil and gas matters.
The expanded Cabinet meeting included a comprehensive review of the country’s performance in 2025. Reports were presented by deputy chairmen, ministers, and regional hyakims (governors), outlining progress across key sectors.
Participants also discussed priority socio-economic development tasks for 2026, focusing on strengthening economic growth, enhancing energy sector efficiency, and implementing strategic reforms. Personnel matters, including appointments and dismissals of senior officials, were also addressed as part of the government’s ongoing administrative adjustments.
The leadership changes are seen as part of broader efforts to further develop Turkmenistan’s vital oil and gas industry, which remains a cornerstone of the national economy.
