President Serdar Berdimuhamedov Awarded Jubilee Medal Marking 30 Years of Permanent Neutrality

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has been presented with a jubilee medal commemorating the 30th anniversary of the country’s permanent neutrality, state media reported on Sunday. The medal was awarded during a ceremony held at the Oguzhan Palace Complex following an expanded session of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The medal, titled “Türkmenistanyň Bitaraplygynyň 30 ýyllygyna”, was conferred under a resolution of the Mejlis (Parliament). At the start of the ceremony, Mejlis Chairwoman Dunyagozel Gulmanova read out the official document authorizing the award.
According to the resolution, President Berdimuhamedov was honoured for his contributions to strengthening Turkmenistan’s sovereignty and the internationally recognized legal status of permanent neutrality, as well as for advancing the nation’s foreign policy and international cooperation.
Awards Mark International Day of Neutrality
The presentation of the medal coincided with the International Day of Neutrality and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s declaration of permanent neutrality. The ceremony was conducted in accordance with Article 81 of the Constitution.
Alongside the President, jubilee medals and commemorative badges were also awarded to the Mejlis chairwoman, deputy chairpersons of the Cabinet, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, and provincial governors.
President Dedicates Award to the People
Expressing gratitude, President Berdimuhamedov said the medal should be regarded as an honour bestowed upon the Turkmen people. He congratulated citizens on the nation’s longstanding commitment to neutrality, a cornerstone of its foreign policy.
New Book Presented at Cabinet Meeting
The expanded Cabinet session also featured the presentation of President Berdimuhamedov’s new book, “Türkmenistanyň Bitaraplygy – parahatçylygyň we ynanyşmagyň aýdyň ýoly” (“Turkmenistan’s Neutrality – a Clear Path of Peace and Trust”). The publication highlights the country’s peaceful foreign policy principles and its diplomatic achievements.
The events underscored Turkmenistan’s continued emphasis on neutrality as a guiding doctrine in its domestic and international affairs.
