President Serdar Berdimuhamedov Participates in Informal CIS Summit in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, The Gulf Observer: As part of his working visit to the Russian Federation, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on December 22, 2025, took part in the Informal Summit meeting of the heads of state of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
In the morning, President Berdimuhamedov arrived at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, which served as the venue for the Informal Summit of the CIS heads of state. He was warmly welcomed by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
Prior to the Summit, the leaders of the CIS member states visited the State Hermitage Museum as part of the official program. Following the visit, the Informal Summit meeting of the CIS heads of state was convened.
Opening the meeting, President Vladimir Putin extended a warm welcome to the participating leaders and expressed gratitude for their acceptance of the invitation to visit St. Petersburg and attend the Informal Summit.
During the discussions, the heads of state reviewed the outcomes of cooperation within the Commonwealth over the past year and outlined priorities and objectives for the future. The participants noted with satisfaction the progress achieved in economic partnership and exchanged views on key regional and global issues of mutual interest.
President Putin also congratulated President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Turkmenistan’s upcoming Chairmanship of the CIS in 2026 and wished him success in this role.
The CIS leaders reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to equal and mutually beneficial cooperation based on goodwill, mutual respect, and trust. It was emphasized that the meeting reflected the shared aspiration of the Commonwealth states to elevate constructive cooperation to a new level in line with contemporary challenges and demands.
On the occasion of the approaching New Year, President Vladimir Putin conveyed his congratulations and best wishes to the peoples of the CIS member states.
In honor of the distinguished guests, an informal lunch was hosted on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation, followed by a concert organized for the heads of state at the State Hermitage Museum.
Upon the completion of the working visit program, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov proceeded to Pulkovo International Airport in St. Petersburg, from where he departed for Turkmenistan.
