President Shavkat Mirziyoyev Reviews Key Tourism and Construction Projects

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a series of major tourism and construction projects aimed at accelerating Uzbekistan’s economic development and improving its attractiveness as a global tourist destination.
During the presentation, special attention was given to the outcomes of the videoconference chaired by the Head of State on April 9, where he emphasized Uzbekistan’s vast potential in the tourism sector. Citing the country’s rich historical heritage, vibrant culture, and unique natural landscapes, President Mirziyoyev noted that the number of incoming tourists could be increased two- to threefold.
One of the flagship initiatives discussed was the “Chorvoq Darvozasi” tourist complex in the Bostanlyk district. President Mirziyoyev personally inspected the site in December 2024, and the first phase of the project has now been completed. The complex currently features 16 apartment buildings, 3 hotels, a range of commercial and service facilities including cafés and restaurants, a bank office, and a designated parking area. As part of Uzbekistan’s commitment to sustainable development, solar panels will be installed on the rooftops of the buildings to ensure energy efficiency.
The subsequent stages of the project were outlined during the presentation, focusing on expanding the complex’s tourist offerings. In a bid to provide affordable and environmentally friendly energy, a proposal was presented to build a small hydroelectric power station on the Chirchiq River to supply the complex.
Another notable project presented was the construction of a large-scale oceanarium in the Yashnabad district of Tashkent. Spanning 20 hectares along the Chirchiq River, the facility is envisioned as a significant new attraction. A commercial and hotel complex will be constructed adjacent to the oceanarium, with the combined projects expected to generate approximately 1,600 new jobs.
Additionally, a new residential and business complex is planned for the Yakkasaray district. The development will include high-rise apartment buildings, kindergartens, schools, sports and wellness centers, a hotel, and modern office spaces—designed to meet the needs of both residents and businesses.
President Mirziyoyev underscored the importance of carefully considering the legal, financial, and infrastructural aspects of these projects. He instructed responsible officials to develop a comprehensive and realistic action plan, clearly defining timelines and quality standards. The Head of State stressed the need for strict oversight at all stages of project implementation to ensure timely and high-quality outcomes.
These initiatives form part of Uzbekistan’s broader strategy to enhance its tourism infrastructure, boost employment, and promote sustainable urban development across key regions of the country.
