President Tokayev and Polpharma Chairman Discuss Pharmaceutical Expansion
Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Jerzy Starak, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Polpharma, on the sidelines of the 36th plenary meeting of the Foreign Investors’ Council in Astana. The two leaders discussed Polpharma’s plans for expanding its pharmaceutical activities in Kazakhstan and the broader Central Asian region, as announced by the Akorda press service.
President Tokayev was briefed on the recent completion of Polpharma’s quality control laboratory and scientific-research testing center in Kazakhstan, as well as the company’s upcoming launch of new medicinal products. Tokayev emphasized the importance of enhancing Kazakhstan’s scientific research and training capacities in the pharmaceutical sector, acknowledging the contributions Polpharma has made toward this goal. He also thanked Starak for Polpharma’s rapid provision of medicines to Kazakh regions affected by severe flooding in spring 2024.
In a gesture of goodwill, Jerzy Starak presented President Tokayev with two books. The first book documents a Polpharma-sponsored film on Kazakhstan’s sacred sites, including Beket-Ata, the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi Mausoleum, Arystan-Bab, Tamgaly petroglyphs, and the Botai settlement. The second book is a biographical anthology on Kemel Tokayev, a celebrated Kazakh writer and Great Patriotic War veteran who contributed to the liberation of Poland from fascist forces. This publication was developed in collaboration with the Polish-Kazakh Historical Commission.
The meeting underscored the growing ties between Kazakhstan and Polpharma, blending advancements in pharmaceutical development with shared cultural and historical heritage.
