President Tokayev Encourages Qatari Business Investment in Kazakhstan
Doha, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed members of the Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) to explore investment opportunities in Kazakhstan, emphasizing the vast potential in infrastructure, tourism, healthcare, education, and various other sectors.
In a meeting with QBA Chairman HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani, President Tokayev expressed Kazakhstan’s openness to investments from the State of Qatar across multiple industries. Highlighting the signing of several memorandums of understanding in industrial, commercial, tourism, and educational sectors, President Tokayev specifically urged QBA members to consider investing in Astana.
President Tokayev stated, “We welcome the investments of the State of Qatar in all sectors, and we are eager to strengthen our economic ties. Kazakhstan offers great opportunities, and we are particularly interested in the investments of the Qatari private sector in Astana.”
Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani, in response, acknowledged the competitive experience of Qatari companies in the global market and expressed the QBA’s interest in exploring investment opportunities in Kazakhstan. Notably, he highlighted the potential for collaboration in the tourism and education sectors, with discussions ongoing about establishing a technology-focused university between the two countries.
Regarding President Tokayev’s historic visit to Qatar, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani emphasized its significance in elevating bilateral cooperation to new heights. He noted the fruitful 30-year diplomatic relationship between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Kazakhstan, highlighting the active communication and mutual cooperation in various fields.
The meeting was preceded by a round table, where the Investment Holding Group signed a partnership agreement with the Kazakh Ministry of Health in the healthcare sector. The agreement, signed by Chairman of the Group Muhammad Moataz Al-Khayyat, outlines plans to build a multi-functional medical center in Astana. Leveraging Qatar’s experience and cutting-edge technologies, the agreement aims to meet the growing healthcare needs in Kazakhstan, providing world-class medical services.
The discussions and agreements forged during these interactions underscore the commitment of both nations to fostering robust economic ties and exploring avenues for mutual development and prosperity.
