President Tokayev Leads Flag-Raising Ceremony to Mark Kazakhstan’s State Symbols Day

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan attended a solemn ceremony today marking State Symbols Day, held at the Atameken ethno-memorial complex in Astana. The ceremony, which celebrates the national flag, coat of arms, and anthem, highlighted the enduring significance of these symbols as emblems of Kazakhstan’s sovereignty and national identity.

Following a formal readiness report delivered by the Chief of the Guard of Honor, the State Anthem was performed and the national flag of Kazakhstan was ceremoniously hoisted. The event was attended by government officials, military personnel, and members of the public.

In his address, President Tokayev congratulated attendees on the occasion and underscored the deep meaning behind the country’s state symbols. “This holiday is of special importance to our country,” he stated. “The State Symbols are the attributes that represent our independence. The coat of arms, flag, and anthem symbolize our statehood, making it clear to the entire world that Kazakhstan is a sovereign nation.”

President Tokayev emphasized the international recognition of Kazakhstan’s flag, noting its presence outside the United Nations headquarters and its display on the world’s highest mountain summits by Kazakh climbers, as well as at international sporting events where Kazakh athletes have triumphed.

Highlighting a significant milestone, the President also noted that, for the first time this year, Kazakhstan’s military personnel have carried out an independent peacekeeping mission under the national flag.

“The coat of arms, flag, and anthem are the embodiment of true patriotism,” Tokayev concluded. “They symbolize our national identity and our aspiration for the future.”

State Symbols Day, celebrated annually on June 4, was established to honor the adoption of Kazakhstan’s national symbols and to promote patriotism and unity among citizens.
