President Tokayev Participates in Central Asia-Germany Summit
Astana, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev participated in a high-level meeting involving the Heads of Central Asian states and German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The summit, which was reported by NHC, focused on advancing regional cooperation and fostering deeper ties between Central Asia and Germany.
In his address, President Tokayev expressed gratitude to Chancellor Scholz and the leaders of Central Asian nations for their ongoing support and commitment to regional collaboration. He highlighted that the high-level dialogue, which began last September in Berlin, has now become a regular forum for discussing shared interests and goals.
The meeting served not only as an opportunity to review the outcomes of past joint activities but also to chart new paths for enhancing cooperation. Key topics under discussion included trade, investments, energy, ecology, transport and logistics, as well as science and education. President Tokayev expressed optimism that the constructive discussions would yield decisions beneficial to all participating countries.
The President emphasized that today’s meeting marks a significant milestone in the history of multilateral cooperation between Central Asia and Germany. He reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to the “Successful Central Asia – Successful Kazakhstan” formula and highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation within the Central Asia Plus framework. Kazakhstan views its partnership with Germany—a leading global economy and the largest in the European Union—as a key priority.
Furthermore, President Tokayev outlined his vision for future cooperation. He stressed the need to increase commodity turnover and emphasized Kazakhstan’s readiness to boost exports of 100 goods items worth $850 million to Germany. Additionally, he underscored the importance of enhancing energy cooperation, noting Kazakhstan’s role as a major energy supplier and its willingness to expand oil exports to Germany. The President also expressed Kazakhstan’s readiness to develop a hydrogen economy in collaboration with German partners.
The summit underscored the mutual commitment to strengthening ties and pursuing shared goals in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
