President Xi Jinping Commences State Visit to Serbia with Arrival in Belgrade

Belgrade, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping embarked on a significant state visit to Serbia as he arrived in Belgrade on Tuesday, marking a momentous occasion in bilateral relations between the two nations. Upon entry into Serbian airspace, Xi’s plane was escorted by two fighter jets from the Serbian Air Force, symbolizing the importance accorded to his visit. Warmly welcomed at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and his wife, Tamara Vucic, President Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, were greeted with flowers presented by Serbian children amidst waving national flags and traditional songs and dances performed by the Serbian people, showcasing the depth of friendship between the two countries.
In a written statement upon his arrival, President Xi emphasized the profound traditional friendship between China and Serbia, asserting that their bilateral relationship has withstood the test of changing international environments and serves as a model of state-to-state relations. Expressing anticipation for substantive discussions with President Vucic on bilateral ties and mutual interests, Xi articulated his confidence in the visit’s potential to chart a new course for China-Serbia relations. This visit, Xi highlighted, marks his second trip to Serbia in eight years, underscoring its significance in elevating and enhancing bilateral ties.
President Xi underscored the milestone achieved in China-Serbia relations since the establishment of their comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016, emphasizing the robust political trust and fruitful cooperation, particularly within the Belt and Road Initiative framework. Mutual support on core issues and joint efforts in upholding international fairness and justice were hailed by Xi as manifestations of their unwavering friendship. Stressing cooperation on principles of equality and mutual benefit, Xi affirmed China’s commitment to fostering deeper, broader, and higher-quality collaboration with Serbia.
