President Xi Jinping Emphasizes Strengthening China’s Tourism Sector

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: President Xi Jinping has called for enhanced efforts to improve modern tourism systems and expedite China’s development into a leading global tourism destination. Xi, who also serves as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, made these remarks in a directive focused on the tourism sector.

In his directive, President Xi highlighted that China has cultivated the world’s largest domestic tourism market and emerged as both the largest source of international tourists and a premier destination. He noted that the tourism sector has grown into a significant strategic industry, enhancing people’s wellbeing and happiness, and demonstrating a unique path of tourism development with distinct Chinese characteristics.

Acknowledging the new opportunities and challenges facing tourism development in the current era, Xi urged a comprehensive approach that balances government and market roles, supply and demand, protection and development, and domestic and international markets, while also considering development and security.

Xi underscored the pivotal role of tourism in promoting economic growth, showcasing China’s image, and fostering international cultural exchanges. He called on all regions and departments to take concrete actions to promote the high-quality and sustainable development of the tourism industry.

A national meeting on tourism development was held on Friday in Beijing, where Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, conveyed Xi’s instructions and delivered a speech. Li stressed the importance of studying and implementing Xi’s directives, protecting cultural heritage and ecological resources, improving service quality, and deepening international tourism exchanges and cooperation.

The meeting highlighted the commitment of Chinese authorities to elevate the tourism sector, ensuring its steady growth and continued contribution to the nation’s economic and cultural vitality.
