President Xi Jinping to Visit Malaysia in 2025, Strengthening Bilateral Ties
Kuala Lumpur, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his interest in visiting Malaysia in 2025, marking his first visit since 2013, according to Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
“President Xi has conveyed his desire to visit Malaysia in 2025, contingent on finding a mutually suitable time,” Mohamad stated during a Parliamentary session in response to a query from Wong Shu Qi (PH-Kluang).
Wong had inquired about the outcomes of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim of Malaysia’s recent state visit to China. Mohamad highlighted that the visit fostered discussions on various areas of cooperation, including trade, investment, education, and tourism.
“China has agreed to deepen existing collaborations and explore new opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI),” Mohamad said. Key areas of cooperation include agriculture, poverty eradication, renewable energy, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy, alongside the sharing of expertise and technology.
The minister also emphasized the significance of the grand reception for Sultan Ibrahim, reflecting the strong bond between Malaysia and China. This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
“The warm relationship, built on mutual respect and trust, was evident in His Majesty’s meetings with President Xi and Prime Minister Li Qiang. China has shown sincerity in all discussions and is keen to share urban planning expertise and encourage private sector investment in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and high-speed rail projects,” Mohamad added.
President Xi’s upcoming visit is expected to further enhance Malaysia-China relations, solidifying their partnership in key sectors and reinforcing their shared vision for regional development and prosperity.
