Presidents of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan hold phone talks
Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on Friday.
The leader of Tajikistan warmly congratulated the head of our state on the successful holding of a nationwide referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the conversation, special attention was paid to the practical implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level.
With particular satisfaction, the progressive strengthening of the Uzbek-Tajik relations of strategic partnership and alliance, as well as the growing dynamics of trade and economic cooperation were noted.
The volume of mutual trade, the number of joint projects and enterprises are increasing. The construction of a border trade and logistics zone is underway. Active cultural and humanitarian exchanges continue – in March, the first Forum of rectors of the leading universities of the two countries was fruitfully held in Dushanbe.
The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan noted the importance of careful preparation of the agenda for the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the second Forum of Regions in order to accelerate ongoing cooperation projects and develop new areas of practical interaction.
An exchange of views took place on issues of regional cooperation, including in the context of preparations for the upcoming fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia
A schedule of upcoming events was also considered.
