Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim Reaffirms Support for Agro-Community at 50th HPPNK Celebration in Kota Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim officiated the 50th anniversary of the National Farmers, Breeders, and Fishermen Day (HPPNK) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah today, reaffirming his government’s strong commitment to the welfare and empowerment of Malaysia’s agro-community.
In a heartfelt address, Anwar Ibrahim reflected on his tenure as Minister of Agriculture from 1984 to 1986, describing it as a formative period that deepened his appreciation for the hard work and resilience of farmers, breeders, and fishermen—communities he called the pillars of the nation’s food security.
“These groups play a crucial role in ensuring the continuity of life, economic stability, and national sovereignty. The MADANI Government places their welfare at the forefront of our agenda,” said the Prime Minister.
He stressed the importance of strong synergy between the Federal Government, State Governments, and relevant agencies in focusing strategically on the development of modern agriculture and the blue economy for the well-being of the people and sustainability of the environment.
Under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13), Anwar Ibrahim highlighted that the government will drive initiatives to increase productivity and competitiveness in the agri-food sector, positioning it as a catalyst for rural development, wealth creation, and future sustainability.
He further stated that the MADANI administration remains committed to implementing all agricultural policies, programs, and support mechanisms comprehensively and effectively, not only to uplift the agro-sector economically but to honor its five-decade legacy as the backbone of national strength.
