Prime Minister of Qatar Receives U.S. Secretary of State to Discuss Strategic Relations
Doha, The Gulf Observer: His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Thursday welcomed U.S. Secretary of State His Excellency Anthony Blinken, who is on an official visit to the country.
During the meeting, the two officials reviewed the close and longstanding strategic relations between Qatar and the United States and explored avenues to further strengthen and enhance bilateral cooperation. The discussions also centered on pressing regional issues, with a particular focus on the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.
Both sides expressed deep concern over the ongoing violence in Gaza, emphasizing the urgent need to halt the attacks and ensure the protection of civilians in the northern Gaza Strip. They also discussed the latest developments in joint mediation efforts aimed at securing peace and stability in the region.
The conversation extended to the escalating tensions in Lebanon, where both leaders underscored the importance of de-escalation to prevent further destabilization in the region. They reiterated their commitment to working collaboratively to find peaceful solutions to these critical issues.
