Putin Congratulates CPV on Successful 14th National Congress in Phone Talks with General Secretary Tô Lâm

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV) Central Committee Tô Lâm on Saturday evening, extending congratulations on the successful conclusion of the CPV’s 14th National Congress.
During the call, President Putin warmly congratulated the CPV on the successful organisation of the congress, and conveyed his congratulations to the CPV Central Committee, the Politburo, and General Secretary Tô Lâm on their election to leadership positions for the new term.
The Russian leader described the 14th National Congress as an important political event that set strategic directions, major goals, and key decisions, tasks, and measures to help Việt Nam achieve fast and sustainable development in the new era, with the aim of becoming a high-income developed country by 2045.
President Putin emphasised that General Secretary Tô Lâm’s re-election reflects his political prestige and significant contributions to the formulation and implementation of strategic policies for sustainable socio-economic development, safeguarding Việt Nam’s national interests, and enhancing the country’s position in the international arena.
For his part, General Secretary Tô Lâm expressed appreciation for President Putin’s attention to the CPV’s important political event, as well as his sincere congratulations and personal sentiments towards the CPV, the Vietnamese people, and the General Secretary himself.
He underlined that throughout its Party congresses, Việt Nam has consistently received concern and support from traditional friends, including the former Soviet Union and the Russian Federation today.
Highlighting the major achievements of the 14th National Party Congress, the CPV leader noted that the congress identified foreign affairs and international integration, closely linked with national defence and security, as a crucial and regular task. He reaffirmed Việt Nam’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification of external relations, resilience, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.
General Secretary Tô Lâm reiterated that Việt Nam always considers Russia a reliable and top-priority partner in Europe, and expressed the desire to further strengthen bilateral friendship and cooperation in line with the Việt Nam–Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
President Putin, in turn, stressed that Russia attaches particular importance to its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Việt Nam, which is built on 75 years of traditional friendship and has been continuously nurtured by the leaders and peoples of both countries.
He affirmed that Russia will continue to work closely with Việt Nam to comprehensively strengthen bilateral ties for the benefit of both nations, as well as for peace, stability, and security in the Asia-Pacific region.
On this occasion, President Putin thanked General Secretary Tô Lâm and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation for attending the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
During the talks, both leaders expressed their readiness to engage in constructive and open discussions, based on mutual understanding, respect, and the harmonisation of interests, to enhance cooperation in traditional areas and expand collaboration into new and promising fields.
At the end of the conversation, President Putin invited General Secretary Tô Lâm to visit Russia at a suitable time. The General Secretary accepted the invitation with pleasure and extended an invitation to President Putin to visit Việt Nam in the near future.
