Putin Praises Kazakhstan-Russia Relations at SPIEF Meeting
St. Petersburg, The Gulf Observer: President Vladimir Putin has affirmed the strong and cooperative relationship between Russia and Kazakhstan during a meeting with editors-in-chief of leading international news agencies at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
President Putin highlighted the ongoing and effective communication with Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, describing their relationship as “very good, trust-based and friendly.” He expressed confidence in the stability and strength of the partnership between the two neighboring countries.
“We are in constant contact with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. We have very good, trust-based and friendly relations,” said Putin. “Speaking frankly, I do not see any idea which could complicate our relations. We have just talked about the cooperation with China. 90% of our trade turnover falls on national currencies. The same situation is with Kazakhstan, where this figure has reached almost 100%.”
President Putin emphasized the extensive and productive cooperation across various sectors, including the humanitarian field. He specifically acknowledged President Tokayev’s supportive role in fostering these interactions.
“President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev supports our interaction in all areas,” Putin noted. “We have productive cooperation with Kazakhstan in all sectors, thanks to President Tokayev who backs our interaction in all these areas.”
Looking ahead, President Putin confirmed his upcoming visit to Astana, where he will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and other significant events.
“Soon we will gather in Astana for the SCO and other events. I have an invitation, and, of course, I will come,” he concluded.
The meeting underscored the robust diplomatic and economic ties between Russia and Kazakhstan, reflecting a shared commitment to mutual growth and stability in the region.
