Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Qaiser Nawab, Founder President of the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Alumni Association (PAAA), has welcomed the latest diplomatic developments in the South Caucasus, underlining Pakistan’s historic and unwavering solidarity with Azerbaijan.

On 28 August 2025, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, H.E. Ishaq Dar, held a telephonic conversation with the Foreign Minister of Armenia, H.E. Ararat Mirzoyan, where both sides agreed to consider the prospect of establishing diplomatic relations. This engagement comes at a time when the United States has released official documents from the historic Armenia–Azerbaijan Peace Summit held in Washington, D.C., on 8 August 2025, attended by President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia.

The published documents include the Joint Declaration on peace, a Memorandum of Understanding between the U.S. and Azerbaijan to establish a Strategic Partnership Working Group, and the endorsement of the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP),” a vital corridor connecting Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave through Armenian territory.

Qaiser Nawab stated, “The Washington summit and its outcomes are a testament to Azerbaijan’s leadership and commitment to regional peace under President Ilham Aliyev. Pakistan has always stood shoulder to shoulder with Azerbaijan, and as peace gains momentum in the South Caucasus, it is vital that our policies remain consistent with this historic brotherhood. Pakistan’s engagement with Armenia must be carefully balanced, always keeping in view our deep, time-tested ties with Azerbaijan.”

He further emphasized that Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and its rightful stance on Nagorno-Karabakh have always been firmly upheld by Pakistan and must continue to guide future diplomatic approaches.

PAAA reaffirms that Pakistan’s foreign policy should remain aligned with its brotherly nation Azerbaijan, a bond built on shared faith, trust, and mutual support. The Washington agreements, particularly the TRIPP corridor, will strengthen regional trade and integration, with Azerbaijan at the center of this transformation. Any new engagements in the South Caucasus must be pursued in consultation with Azerbaijan to ensure Pakistan’s stance remains principled, credible, and respectful of this strategic partnership. PAAA will continue to promote academic, cultural, and alumni exchanges that highlight the friendship between Pakistan and Azerbaijan while contributing to broader regional understanding.

The Pakistan-Azerbaijan Alumni Association (PAAA) is dedicated to strengthening academic, cultural, and people-to-people linkages between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
