Qatar and Jordan Discuss Gaza Mediation and Aid Efforts

Doha, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan H E Dr. Ayman Al Safadi during his visit to Qatar yesterday.

During their meeting, the two ministers discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation and relations between Qatar and Jordan. They explored ways to support and further develop these ties.

The discussions also focused on the ongoing developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, along with joint mediation efforts to end the conflict. Both leaders emphasized the urgent need for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. They called for an effective international stance to halt illegal Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, which undermine the two-state solution and the prospects for a just and comprehensive peace.

Additionally, the meeting addressed cooperation between Qatar and Jordan in responding to the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. They discussed ways to facilitate aid delivery through Jordan and efforts to mitigate regional tensions.

The leaders reaffirmed Qatar and Jordan’s support for Lebanon’s security and stability, stressing the importance of adhering to United Nations Resolution 1701.

Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani expressed Qatar’s appreciation for Jordan’s role in facilitating humanitarian aid to Gaza via the Jordanian route.

Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Ayman Al Safadi reiterated Jordan’s support for the efforts made by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States to achieve a lasting ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. He also extended gratitude to Qatar for its care and support for Jordanians working and residing in the country.
