Qatar Customs seize 7,000 Lyrica pills at Hamad Airport

Doha, The Gulf Observer: Customs authorities at Hamad International Airport (HIA) foiled an attempt to smuggle Lyrica pills into Qatar.

In a social media post, Customs stated that the banned substance was found when the traveller’s bag “was opened and emptied by the customs inspector.”

A total of 7,000 Lyrica pills were found, a seizure report was issued and legal measures were immediately taken, according to the authorities.

“The security authorities responsible for receiving these materials were summoned,” announced Qatar Customs.

Authorities in Qatar had also recently thwarted an attempt to smuggle various kind of narcotic pills into the country. The attempt at smuggling the contraband, which was hidden inside car parts, was foiled at Abu Samra port.

Customs officers are provided with all means of support including the latest devices and continuous training to read the body language of passengers and to be aware of the latest methods followed by smugglers.
