Qatar Engages in Global Dialogue at 43rd World Scout Conference

Cairo, The Gulf Observer: The 43rd World Scout Conference commenced yesterday in Cairo, Egypt, drawing participation from 178 national scout organizations under the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). The week-long event, hosted by the Egyptian Federation for Scouts and Girl Guides, serves as a global platform for scout leaders to exchange knowledge, foster cooperation, and promote coexistence through an integrated scientific programme.
The Qatar Scouts and Guides Association (QSGA) is represented at the conference by a delegation led by H.E. Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Chairperson of QSGA. The event features a series of workshops, symposia, and cultural, sporting, and social activities, designed to explore various dimensions of the scout movement.
Key issues under discussion include environmental sustainability, peace, and the alignment of scouting initiatives with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The conference also honors the significant contributions made by scout leaders and WOSM to the global community.
In an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), Jassim Muhammad Al Hardan, Commissioner General of QSGA, highlighted the conference as a valuable opportunity to build connections and cooperation among global scout members. He emphasized that scouting plays a vital role in fostering collaboration, sharing life experiences, and unifying nations’ visions on various issues. Al Hardan also noted the critical humanitarian role of scouts in disaster management and mitigation.
Dr. Mehdi ben Khelil, a member of WOSM, further elaborated on the organization’s mission, describing it as an educational platform that works closely with national scout societies to deliver a comprehensive pedagogical programme. This programme aims to equip young people with essential skills, enabling them to discover and develop their talents across intellectual, spiritual, social, and physical domains.
The 43rd World Scout Conference is expected to strengthen global scout cooperation and advance the movement’s contributions to sustainable development and peacebuilding efforts worldwide.
