Qatar shows the capability to host mega events, says Aide to Russian President

Doha, The Gulf Observer: Aide to the President of the Russian Federation H E Igor Levitin has stressed that the State of Qatar showed the world its capability of organising events of any level, given its impressive success in organising the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, starting from the opening ceremony reaching the first rounds of the tournament.
He hoped that Qatar’s next level will be hosting other sporting events, such as the Olympic Games or World University Games (the Universiade).
In his exclusive remarks to QNA, Levitin said: “The legacy of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is Qatar’s biggest gain of hosting the World Cup.”
Aide to the Russian President said that the facilities and infrastructure established for the tournament will be used to serve the local community, the tourists who will flock to Qatar after the tournament, and all those who want to get involved with sports.
Aide to the Russian President congratulated Qatar for its success in organising the World Cup, saying: “The beginning of the world cup was extremely successful because most of the footballers are here and a lot of people were here for the opening match and the opening ceremony, which in my point of view was perfect.
“The atmosphere is mainly football, and being in the stadium the whole day is like a big united family. We saw very nice pictures from the opening ceremony. Everything was strictly related to the Middle East taking into the fact that this is the first World Cup in the Arab world which will be very good publicity for the Arab countries.”
Regarding the criticism that Qatar faced before and during its organisation of the tournament, Levitin said that during Russia’s hosting of the 2018 World Cup, they faced the same campaigns as Qatar and that both countries were criticised that they cannot fulfil the FIFA requirements.
“I am pretty sure that Russia and Qatar showed the world their real face by providing a high level of attention to all the people coming to the host country, to provide them with security and what is most important to create the atmosphere of the festival,” he added.
Regarding the Qatar-Russia relations, he stressed that the relations between both countries are based on trust and friendship, saying that both countries are two major gas providers and have common tasks of technological and ecological development. He added that both countries support the idea of providing sustainable global economy development and that both countries have all the space to develop their bilateral relations.
