Qatar to host 17th annual GPCA Forum
Dubai, The Gulf Observer: The State of Qatar will hold the 17th Annual Gulf Petrochemicals & Chemicals Association (GPCA) Forum under the theme “Mobilizing Chemistry for Impactful Transformation”, at Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC).
The event, scheduled from Dec. 5-7, will bring together global and regional chemical leaders to discuss topics ranging from sustainability and innovation to portfolio transformation.
In a statement, GPCA said that this year’s edition features an expanded program and wide opportunities, in addition to a group of new events held for the first time. Participants will have the opportunity to attend the opening of the Solution Xchange, an interactive platform designed to exchange knowledge and provide technical solutions and visions about the challenges and solutions to a number of issues related to the future of the chemical industry.
Participants will also learn, through a special event, about the journey of the Gulf chemical industry, in addition to the sustainability exhibition to highlight the achievements and aspirations of the petrochemical sector in its journey towards achieving sustainability.
The second edition of the GPCA Youth Forum will also take place from Dec. 5-7.
The fifth edition of GPCA Legacy Award (Al-Rowad) will take place on Day 1 to honor one outstanding chemical industry pioneer for their contribution to the evolution of the chemical industry in the Arabian Gulf.
GPCA Secretary-General Dr. Abdel Wahhab Al Sadoun highlighted the role of the chemical industry in leading the global transition towards a more sustainable future and a wider use of clean energy, stressing the urgent need for innovation, cooperation and empowerment of youth, especially since the industry is responsible for meeting the needs of the growing population amid a lot of challenges.
Al Sadoun expressed his happiness that Doha hosted the activities of the 17th Annual GPCA Forum for the first time, in the presence of more than 2,000 specialists and leaders in the field of the chemical industry who will come to discuss the future of the chemical industry and its global position, calling on all industry leaders and stakeholders to seize this opportunity to attend and participate in shaping the future of the industry.
Established in 2006, GPCA represents the downstream hydrocarbon industry in the Arabian Gulf.
It voices the common interests of more than 250 member companies from the chemical and allied industries, accounting for over 95 percent of chemical output in the Arabian Gulf region.
The industry makes up the second largest manufacturing sector in the region, producing over USD 108 billion worth of products a year.
