Romania Awards National Order ‘Star of Romania’ to Polish FM Radosław Sikorski

Warsaw, The Gulf Observer: Romania has awarded Poland’s Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski the National Order “Star of Romania” in the rank of Grand Officer, in recognition of his contribution to strengthening the historic ties and strategic partnership between the two countries.
The distinction was presented on behalf of Romanian President Nicușor Dan during a ceremony held at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
Romanian officials described the award as a profound acknowledgment of Sikorski’s role in enhancing cooperation and reinforcing the long-standing friendship between Romania and Poland.
The ceremony coincided with the 105th anniversary of the signing of the first Romanian-Polish Defensive Alliance in 1921, a milestone that forms the foundation of the Romanian-Polish Solidarity Day.
During the event, officials recalled that enduring friendships are often strengthened during challenging times, highlighting the close collaboration between Bucharest and Warsaw in regional diplomacy, European Union negotiations, and international forums.
The Romanian side also reflected on Sikorski’s earlier connection with Romania, noting his presence as a journalist in the city of Timișoara during the 1989 Romanian Revolution.
Romania emphasized that both Romania and Poland today recognize the imperative of remaining steadfast partners, working together to advance regional security, cooperation, and shared European values.
