Romania Calls for De-escalation and Civilian Protection at EU Foreign Affairs Council Meeting on Middle East

Brussels, The Gulf Observer: Romania’s Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu stated that she participated in a Foreign Affairs Council meeting convened by Kaja Kallas, held via video conference, to coordinate with European Union counterparts on the evolving security situation in the Middle East, including the latest developments in Iran.
Speaking after the meeting, Țoiu said she presented Romania’s assessment based on extensive input from the country’s diplomatic and consular missions operating in the region. She also outlined the measures taken to ensure the safety and security of Romanian citizens amid escalating tensions.
During the discussions, Romania emphasized the urgent need to avoid further expansion of hostilities and to prioritize the protection of civilians. The minister underlined that maintaining nuclear safety remains a matter of utmost importance in the current circumstances.
Țoiu further noted that Romania would remain in close contact with international partners and regional stakeholders to identify pathways toward de-escalation and stability. She stressed that the Iranian people have the right to freely determine their future.
The Romanian foreign minister also reaffirmed continued coordination on the ground in support of Romanian and European Union citizens, highlighting the importance of unified action within the EU framework during periods of heightened regional instability.
