Chernivtsi, The Gulf Observer: Romanian Foreign Minister held substantial and constructive trilateral political consultations with his Moldovan and Ukrainian counterparts in Chernivtsi, marking the fourth meeting in this format. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation and addressing shared regional challenges, with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha hosting the gathering.

The meeting also featured the online participation of the Foreign Ministers of Poland and Lithuania, who engaged in dialogue on common security threats in the Black Sea and Baltic Sea regions, underlining the need for close coordination.

Chernivtsi, a symbolic city for the strong relations among the three nations and home to a significant portion of the over 300,000 Romanians living in Ukraine, provided a meaningful setting for the talks. The ministers attended a ceremony honoring the heroes of Chernivtsi, reiterating calls for accountability for all those responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity amid Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine.

Addressing the persistent threat of Russian propaganda and disinformation, the Romanian Foreign Minister stressed that such efforts will never undermine the European path of Moldova and Ukraine, nor Romania’s firm commitment to supporting their swift and full integration into the European Union.

The trilateral coordination format, which has gained increased importance over the past three years of war, continues to focus on strengthening Moldova’s and Ukraine’s resilience against hybrid attacks. A joint declaration adopted during the meeting highlighted significant progress achieved and reaffirmed the commitment to further consolidate this partnership in the interest of the citizens and the region.
