Russia Affirms Continued Participation in Turkmenistan’s Transport Projects

Moscow, The Gulf Observer: In a statement, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government, Alexey Overchuk, has confirmed Russia’s commitment to actively participate in the transport projects of Turkmenistan and other nations, marking a strategic development in the international North-South route. This affirmation comes against the backdrop of growing significance for the transport corridor amid challenges faced by other transcontinental routes.
According to the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission in the Russian Federation, Deputy Prime Minister Overchuk emphasized Russia’s intention to contribute to the development of roads and railways, along with engaging in related projects in several countries. The targeted nations include Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Iran.
“We plan to develop roads and railways or participate in related projects in Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Iran. We are interested in the construction of the Trans-Afghan railway, and we are also developing maritime connections with Asian and African countries,” stated Overchuk in an interview with the Expert publication.
The comprehensive implementation of a large transport project is in progress, with preparations underway for the construction of missing sections of railway lines in Iran, as highlighted by Overchuk. This initiative underscores the commitment of Russia to strengthen regional connectivity and enhance trade and economic cooperation among the participating nations.
In 2022, Russia, in collaboration with Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Iran, successfully introduced regular railway services with access to the Indian Ocean. This accomplishment demonstrates the tangible progress achieved in the realm of international transportation infrastructure.
Russia’s ongoing involvement in these projects reflects its dedication to fostering collaboration and reinforcing the strategic North-South route, thereby contributing to the economic development and prosperity of the involved nations.
