Moscow, The Gulf Observer: The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Moscow and Tehran has officially entered into force.

The treaty, signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Moscow on January 17, 2025, came into effect on October 2, according to a statement released by the ministry and reported by TASS news agency.

The ministry described the treaty as a reflection of the strategic choice made by both governments to strengthen friendly and neighborly relations in line with their national interests. It hailed the agreement as a milestone, marking the start of a new phase of broad strategic partnership between Russia and Iran.

The document sets out key benchmarks for long-term cooperation in priority sectors and envisions enhanced coordination on the international stage amid the emergence of a multipolar world order. It also provides for closer collaboration within major multilateral organizations and joint initiatives aimed at promoting regional stability, security, and responses to shared global challenges.
