Sahrjah’s Sultan Al Qasimi inaugurates 7th Sharjah Desert Theatre Festival
Sharjah, The Gulf Observer: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, opened Friday evening the activities of the 7th edition of the Sharjah Desert Theatre Festival. Organised by the Department of Culture, the festival runs from 8 to 12 December, in the Al Kihaif.
The festival began with a mesmerising performance of ” Al Namous” a play written by Sultan Al Neyadi and directed by Mohammed Al Ameri. The play was presented by the Sharjah National Theatre, showcasing the incredible talent of some of the country’s most renowned theatre artists.
The play embodies the Emirati desert environment and emphasises the significance of protecting the land and reputation, hence fostering a life of dignity within society. The play elegantly captures the essence of the Emirati desert environment, emphasising the importance of protecting the land and upholding honour to live a life of dignity and pride. It also teaches important lessons about self-defense and courage that reflect the admirable qualities of the people of this noble land.
The performance showcased a diverse range of creative approaches, including elements such as narration, poetry, displays, and the inclusion of horses and camels in the scenes. In addition, a variety of visual elements were employed to establish a unique theatrical environment, effectively communicating the play’s concepts and goals to the viewers.
