Saudi Ambassador Delivers Crown Prince’s Invitation to Prabowo

Mohammed bin Salman Extends Invitation to Prabowo for Saudi Arabia Visit

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: In a significant diplomatic gesture, Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Indonesia Faisal bin Abdullah H. Amodi has handed over a letter from Crown Prince and Defence Minister Mohammed bin Salman, inviting President-elect Prabowo Subianto to visit Saudi Arabia. The formal invitation was presented during Ambassador Faisal’s courtesy call at the Indonesian Defence Ministry on Thursday.

Ambassador Faisal submitted the letter to Prabowo, who concurrently serves as the Defence Minister in President Joko Widodo’s cabinet. This meeting underscores the strengthening of bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.

Prabowo’s recent visit to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on June 12 followed his attendance at an emergency international conference on Gaza, held in Amman, Jordan. During this visit, Prabowo met with Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS). At their meeting, Prabowo expressed his belief in the Crown Prince’s potential to play a greater role in advocating for justice and humanity for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

During their meeting at the Defence Ministry, Prabowo and Ambassador Faisal agreed to enhance defence cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of military education and joint drills. Brigadier General Edwin Adrian Sumantha, Head of Public Relations Bureau at the Office of the Defence Ministry’s Secretary General, reported that both parties also concurred on increasing the number of military personnel participating in education, courses, and joint drills in Indonesia.

Brigadier General Sumantha highlighted that defence cooperation is a shared interest that strengthens the bilateral ties between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. He noted that Prabowo emphasized the need to expand collaboration in the defence industry, further solidifying the strategic partnership between the two nations.

This invitation and subsequent agreements mark a pivotal moment in Saudi-Arabian-Indonesian relations, reinforcing a commitment to mutual defence cooperation and broader bilateral engagement.
