Saudi Arabia and Canada Hold First Round of Political Consultations in Ottawa
Ottawa, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia and Canada convened their inaugural round of political consultations in Ottawa on Thursday, signaling a new phase in the development of bilateral relations between the two nations.
The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Saud Al-Sati, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Alexander Lévêque, Assistant Deputy Minister for Europe, Arctic, and Middle East Affairs at Global Affairs Canada.
During the consultations, both sides engaged in comprehensive discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation across a range of sectors. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual concern.
The two delegations underscored their shared commitment to deepening diplomatic engagement and strengthening dialogue. As a concrete step toward institutionalizing these efforts, Saudi Arabia and Canada signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a framework for regular political consultations between their respective ministries of foreign affairs.
This landmark meeting reflects the mutual desire to promote greater understanding and collaboration, and lays the groundwork for a more structured and strategic partnership in the years ahead.
