Saudi Arabia Calls for Global Collaboration Against Rising Conflicts at NAM Summit

Kampala, The Gulf Observer: In a call for unified efforts to curb the surge in global conflicts threatening national sovereignty and stability, Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Waleed Elkhereiji, delivered a compelling speech at the 19th summit of the leaders of the Non-Aligned Movement countries in Kampala, Uganda, on Saturday, as reported by the state news agency SPA.

Representing King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Minister Elkhereiji conveyed greetings to the participating heads of state and government. He emphasized Saudi Arabia’s unwavering stance against the Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip, urging an immediate ceasefire, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the prevention of forced displacement of Gaza’s residents. Elkhereiji affirmed that the Palestinian question will persist on meeting agendas until the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, aligning with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Addressing the escalating challenges of extreme climate conditions globally, Elkhereiji highlighted Saudi Arabia’s commitment to critical national and international environmental initiatives. This includes the Saudi and Middle East green initiatives aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

The summit, attended by Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, and Saudi Ambassador to Uganda Jamal Al-Madani, served as a platform for Saudi Arabia to advocate collective action against conflicts and reiterate its commitment to addressing pressing global issues, both political and environmental.
