Saudi Arabia Condemns Israel’s Violations of International Law

New York, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its strong condemnation of Israel’s grave violations of international law, warning that the lack of accountability is fueling further escalation and threatening regional security. In a speech delivered by Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Kingdom denounced Israel’s recent actions in Gaza and underscored the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people.

Prince Faisal emphasized that Israel’s war crimes against defenseless civilians in Gaza form part of a broader pattern of violent oppression, made worse by the absence of international accountability. He highlighted the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, citing systematic bombing, destruction, and starvation tactics that have devastated the lives of thousands.

Saudi Arabia, he said, rejects the current reality faced by Palestinians and called for immediate action to halt their suffering. Prince Faisal reminded the Assembly of the emergency Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh in November 2023, which sought to end the bloodshed in Gaza and deliver unrestricted humanitarian aid to those in need.

The Kingdom’s Foreign Minister reiterated Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support for the two-state solution as the most viable path to lasting peace in the region. He urged the international community to join the Kingdom’s newly launched International Alliance to Implement the Two-State Solution, which aims to establish a credible, irreversible peace process.

Saudi Arabia welcomed the UN General Assembly’s May 2024 decision to grant Palestine full membership status and praised countries such as Norway, Spain, Ireland, Slovenia, and Armenia for their recent recognition of Palestine. Prince Faisal also announced that Saudi Arabia has contributed over $5 billion in aid to the Palestinian people, with nearly $185 million allocated to Gaza’s current crisis, channeled through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.

In his concluding remarks, Prince Faisal called for practical steps toward a comprehensive and just resolution of the Palestinian issue, based on international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative. He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Prince Faisal also addressed the need for international efforts to stabilize Lebanon, safeguard its sovereignty, and ensure diplomatic solutions to ongoing regional conflicts.
