Saudi Arabia, Morocco Sign Executive Program to Boost Renewable Energy Cooperation

Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman on Friday held talks in Riyadh with Morocco’s Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, focusing on areas of mutual interest and ways to strengthen investment and cooperation in renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Following the meeting, the two sides signed an executive program for cooperation in renewable energy aimed at enabling companies from both countries to implement joint projects under the governments of Saudi Arabia and Morocco.

The executive program falls within the framework of a memorandum of understanding on energy cooperation signed between the two countries in May 2022.

The program seeks to strengthen the bilateral partnership and boost mutual investments to advance cooperation in renewable energy projects in Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and third countries. It also aims to enable national companies to collaborate on projects related to renewable energy, energy storage systems, grid integration of renewable energy sources, electricity transmission lines, and power grid enhancement.

In addition, the program covers the use of renewable energy in development and infrastructure projects, the implementation of projects developed and operated using renewable energy sources, and the establishment and development of research centers. It also includes cooperation in technology development related to renewable energy, as well as training and capacity-building initiatives to support sustainability and promote knowledge transfer.
