Saudi Arabia on Track for Expo 2030
Paris, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia is set to deliver an Expo 2030 “by the world, for the world,” according to the latest progress report presented by the event’s organizers in Paris. Abdulaziz Alghannam, director general of the Riyadh Expo 2030 office at the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, led the Saudi delegation at the general assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in the French capital.
Alghannam informed the BIE that efforts are fully underway for Expo registration and the establishment of the legal framework necessary for international participation. This marks the first progress report since Riyadh was selected as the host city at the BIE’s last general assembly in November 2023.
The Expo 2030 will take place from October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031, with the Saudi capital set to welcome 197 countries and 29 international organizations. The event’s theme, “The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow,” reflects Saudi Arabia’s dedication to leveraging the Expo to advance sustainable development goals. The focus will be on utilizing science and innovation to foster a better future.
Preparations for the Expo are proceeding at the highest levels, encompassing infrastructure development, legislative and financial measures, the master plan for the Expo site, and legacy plans to ensure long-term benefits from the event.
The progress report emphasized Saudi Arabia’s commitment to creating a world-class Expo that will serve as a global platform for collaboration and innovation, embodying the spirit of international cooperation.
