Saudi Arabia Reiterates Unchanged Position on Regional Escalation

Saudi

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: A senior Saudi official on Saturday strongly denied media reports claiming a shift in Saudi Arabia’s position regarding the ongoing regional escalation, stressing that such claims are inaccurate.

Speaking to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, the official reaffirmed that Saudi Arabia remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at reaching peaceful solutions to contentious issues between the United States and Iran through dialogue and diplomatic means. He emphasized that the Kingdom firmly rejects the use of its airspace or territory for any military action against Iran.

“Saudi Arabia supports efforts aimed at finding a peaceful solution to all contentious issues between the US and Iran through dialogue and diplomatic ways,” the official said, reiterating the Kingdom’s consistent position on regional stability.

The remarks follow a recent phone call between Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which the Crown Prince reiterated that Saudi Arabia would not allow its airspace or territory to be used for any military attack on Iran. He also stressed the Kingdom’s respect for Iran’s sovereignty and its rejection of any military actions launched from Saudi territory, regardless of the party involved or the intended destination.

The clarification comes amid heightened regional tensions, with the United States recently threatening possible military action against Iran following Tehran’s crackdown on nationwide anti-government protests. US President Donald Trump has also ordered the deployment of an aircraft carrier and additional military assets to the region as part of preparations for a potential escalation.

Saudi officials have repeatedly underscored that the Kingdom seeks to prevent further destabilization of the region and remains committed to diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and peaceful resolution of conflicts.
