Saudi Arabia Retains Top Global Ranking in Cybersecurity in 2025 IMD Competitiveness Report
Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia has once again secured its position as the world’s top-ranked country in cybersecurity, according to the latest edition of the World Competitiveness Yearbook 2025 published by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD).
This achievement reflects what officials describe as the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to digital security, driven by the visionary leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
The Kingdom’s top ranking is attributed to its comprehensive national digital transformation strategy, which has propelled Saudi Arabia to the forefront of international benchmarks in cybersecurity. Officials emphasized that the Kingdom’s consistent global performance stems from a long-term strategic approach that balances national security, economic growth, and technological advancement.
Saudi Arabia’s global leadership in cybersecurity was further validated by its designation as a Tier 1 “role-modeling” nation in the Global Cybersecurity Index 2024, published by the United Nations’ International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
At the core of Saudi Arabia’s cybersecurity ecosystem is the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA), which serves as the primary entity for governing the sector. Working in close coordination with the Saudi Information Technology Company (SITE), the NCA has led efforts to strengthen national cyber defenses, localize strategic technologies, and expand international cooperation.
The NCA is responsible for formulating and implementing national policies, regulatory frameworks, and cybersecurity standards. Its mandate includes the protection of critical infrastructure, enhancement of digital resilience, and the development of robust cybersecurity capabilities across key sectors and government services.
In tandem, the Saudi Information Technology Company supports these efforts through technical expertise and strategic initiatives aimed at fostering innovation, investment, and talent development in the cybersecurity domain.
These initiatives are aligned with the Kingdom’s broader vision of creating a secure, trusted, and resilient digital ecosystem—a fundamental pillar of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to achieve sustainable economic growth, support global digital cooperation, and enhance its standing as a digital leader on the world stage.
