Saudi Arabia Unveils Official Logo for World Water Forum 2027

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley on Monday launched the official logo of the 11th World Water Forum, which will be hosted by the Kingdom in 2027. The unveiling took place during a high-level kickoff meeting in Riyadh, in the presence of World Water Council President Loïc Fauchon and a host of international water experts and policymakers.
The event marked the formal commencement of preparatory activities for the World Water Forum 2027, the first edition of the prestigious global gathering to be held in the Middle East. The forum is expected to bring together a wide array of stakeholders to address the world’s most urgent water challenges and to chart a comprehensive roadmap toward sustainable water solutions.
In his keynote address, Minister Alfadley reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enhancing international cooperation in tackling water scarcity and ensuring universal access to water and sanitation services—core objectives of Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6).
“Saudi Arabia prioritizes the water sector through the adoption of a comprehensive national strategy that addresses water production, storage, transportation, distribution, treatment, and reuse, all within a robust institutional framework,” Alfadley stated.
He highlighted the Kingdom’s implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management and its governance improvements across the water supply chain, underscoring the nation’s long-term supply and demand planning through 2050. These efforts align with Saudi Vision 2030, which emphasizes sustainability and resilience across environmental, social, and economic dimensions.
Alfadley also pointed to Saudi Arabia’s global leadership in water advocacy, citing the establishment of the Global Water Organization and the International Water Research Center, which focuses on water economics, security, cutting-edge technologies, and digital transformation.
World Water Council President Loïc Fauchon praised the Kingdom’s proactive role and confirmed that the council has collaborated closely with Saudi stakeholders to develop an integrated framework for the 2027 forum. This framework covers thematic, regional, and political dimensions and will guide the forum’s planning and execution.
“We must make water a top global priority,” Fauchon said. “The way ahead is still long, but we are confident we’re on the right path toward real solutions—solutions that can change lives.”
Deputy Minister for Water Dr. Abdulaziz Alshaibani echoed this urgency, describing the kickoff meeting as a pivotal moment demanding immediate and coordinated action. He emphasized the importance of unifying all efforts to address global water challenges, highlighting key pillars for progress, including financing, innovation, diplomacy, and environmental sustainability.
The World Water Forum, organized every three years by the World Water Council, serves as the largest international platform for dialogue and partnership in the water sector. The 2027 edition in Saudi Arabia is expected to draw thousands of participants from governments, academia, civil society, and the private sector, advancing global efforts to secure water for future generations.
