President Prabowo and King Abdullah II Call for Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza

Amman, The Gulf Observer: President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto and King Abdullah II of Jordan held a high-level meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace in Amman on Monday, where they jointly called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and emphasized the urgency of expanding humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.
Speaking to the press following the meeting, President Prabowo stated, “We talked about Gaza, how we can help in the humanitarian aspect. We also called for an immediate ceasefire.” He reiterated Indonesia’s commitment to promoting peace and supporting efforts to alleviate the suffering of civilians affected by the ongoing conflict in the Palestinian enclave.
“We will offer everything that we can provide to accelerate the peace process,” he affirmed.
Beyond the Gaza crisis, the two leaders also explored opportunities to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in key sectors, including education, science and technology, and economic development. President Prabowo noted that Indonesia relies heavily on imports of phosphate and potassium from Jordan for agricultural fertilizer production, highlighting the strategic nature of the partnership.
Earlier in the day, President Prabowo and King Abdullah II co-chaired a bilateral meeting between the governments of Indonesia and Jordan, also held at Al Husseiniya Palace. The session culminated in the signing of three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and one cooperation pact covering areas such as defense, research and education, religious affairs, and agriculture.
Jordan marks the final stop on President Prabowo’s five-nation Middle East tour, which began on April 9, 2025. The tour included visits to the United Arab Emirates, Türkiye, Egypt, and Qatar.
Prior to his departure, President Prabowo stated in Jakarta that one of the key objectives of his tour was to consult with regional leaders on the deteriorating situation in Gaza and to bolster Indonesia’s role in advancing peace and humanitarian initiatives for the Palestinian people.
The President is scheduled to return to Jakarta following the conclusion of his visit to Jordan.
