Saudi Cabinet Renews Call for Two-State Solution, Highlights Domestic and International Achievements

Neom, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia has reiterated its steadfast support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, calling on the international community to intensify efforts toward achieving a just and comprehensive resolution. The renewed call came during the Cabinet session chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday in NEOM.
The Cabinet emphasized that the recent wave of recognition of the State of Palestine by several countries reflects growing global momentum in support of the Palestinian cause. The ministers reviewed the outcomes of the recent high-level international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue, co-hosted by Saudi Arabia and France. The conference concluded with a final document urging United Nations member states to adopt it as a practical framework for implementation.
Reaffirming the Kingdom’s unwavering humanitarian support to the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip, the Cabinet noted the continued operation of air and sea aid bridges delivering essential relief and medical supplies.
Ministers also strongly condemned the repeated provocations by Israeli occupation officials at Al-Aqsa Mosque, calling on the international community to halt violations of international law and to uphold the sanctity of religious sites.
Domestic Developments and Economic Performance
Turning to domestic affairs, the Cabinet highlighted the 3.9% year-on-year increase in Saudi Arabia’s real GDP for the second quarter of 2025, largely driven by robust growth in the non-oil sectors. The International Monetary Fund’s Article IV consultation report was cited, affirming the Kingdom’s solid fiscal standing and its resilience amid global economic headwinds.
In the area of industrial development, the Cabinet welcomed the launch of several strategic projects in the Eastern Province aimed at enhancing local content and increasing global competitiveness across the Saudi industrial landscape.
Health and Environmental Initiatives
The ministers also applauded the World Health Organization’s recent designation of Jeddah and Madinah as “healthy cities” with populations exceeding one million, raising the total number of WHO-certified healthy cities in the Kingdom to 16.
On the environmental front, progress under the Saudi Green Initiative was reviewed, including the rehabilitation of over 500,000 hectares of degraded land and the successful planting of 151 million trees. These milestones are part of the Kingdom’s broader efforts to combat desertification and restore natural ecosystems.
International Agreements and National Policy Updates
The Cabinet approved several agreements and memorandums of understanding with Mongolia, China, New Zealand, Kuwait, Pakistan, Oman, and Thailand. These agreements cover cooperation in various sectors, including mining, healthcare, customs administration, vocational training, competition policy, and the promotion of non-oil exports.
Further, the Cabinet endorsed the 2025–2028 Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) strategy to combat narcotics, approved a two-semester academic calendar for public education, and adopted the use of a national address-based system for street and building identification.
The session also approved structural amendments to the National Center of Meteorology, aiming to enhance its operational efficiency and service delivery.
