Saudi Defense Minister: Southern Yemen Issue Enters Genuine Political Track Through Riyadh Conference

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman said on Friday that the southern Yemen issue has entered a genuine political track under Saudi sponsorship and with the support of the international community, through the Riyadh Conference.
In a post on his X account, Prince Khalid stated that the conference aims to bring together southern Yemeni political and social figures to develop a comprehensive vision for fair solutions that reflect the will and aspirations of the people of southern Yemen.
He said that Saudi Arabia will form a preparatory committee, in consultation with southern Yemeni figures, to organize the conference. The committee will ensure inclusive participation from all southern governorates, without exclusion or discrimination.
Prince Khalid added that the Kingdom will support the outcomes of the Riyadh Conference and work to ensure they are presented within the framework of comprehensive political talks aimed at resolving the broader Yemeni crisis.
He also described the decision by southern leaders and figures to dissolve the Southern Transitional Council as “courageous,” noting that it demonstrates concern for the future of the southern cause and encourages wider participation by southerners in the Riyadh Conference in service of their legitimate aspirations.
