Saudi Films Surpass SR100 Million in 2025 Box Office Revenues, Marking Industry Milestone

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi films have surpassed SR100 million in box office revenues since the beginning of 2025, underscoring the rapid development of the Kingdom’s film industry and the growing confidence of local audiences in homegrown productions.
The Saudi Film Commission reported that eight domestic films accounted for 19% of total box office share this year — a notable achievement for the Kingdom’s evolving cinematic landscape. The successful titles include Shabab Al-Bomb 2, Hobal, Al-Zarfa, Is’af, Fakhr Al-Suwaidi, Leil Nahar, Saifi, and Tashwish.
Box office momentum remained strong in mid-July. From July 13 to 19, cinemas across the Kingdom recorded total ticket sales of SR26 million. Leading the weekly box office was the American production F1 The Movie, grossing SR26.3 million. In close pursuit was the Saudi film Al-Zarfa, which earned SR22.6 million — highlighting the strong domestic appeal of local storytelling.
Other notable entries included Superman, which secured third place with SR7.7 million, followed by the Egyptian film Ahmed and Ahmed, which grossed SR3.5 million.
The Saudi Film Commission has emphasized that the growth in revenues and audience engagement reflects the success of national strategies to boost the creative sector, support local talent, and establish the Kingdom as a hub for film production in the region.
