Saudi Foreign Minister and Ukrainian Counterpart Discuss Russian-Ukrainian Conflict

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, held a phone call on Sunday with Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha to discuss bilateral relations and the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The conversation focused on recent developments in the war, with both sides exchanging views on efforts to resolve the crisis and addressing matters of mutual interest. The discussion comes as hostilities in Ukraine continue to escalate, with Russian forces launching an overnight assault involving 87 Shahed drones and various missile types.

The attack followed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s announcement of a new “victory plan,” which he intends to present at the upcoming Ramstein group meeting on October 12. The meeting will gather nations supplying arms to Ukraine to discuss military support. Zelensky’s plan, which includes Ukraine’s NATO membership and the provision of long-range missiles, was shared with U.S. President Joe Biden last week.

In a recent statement, Zelensky praised Ukrainian troops for their resilience, emphasizing that their capabilities have been enhanced with sufficient weaponry. He called on Ukraine’s allies to take more decisive actions, stating, “We will keep convincing our partners that our drones alone are not enough. More decisive steps are needed — and the end of this war will be closer.”

The Saudi-Ukrainian conversation highlights Riyadh’s ongoing diplomatic engagement with international efforts to resolve the conflict, as Saudi Arabia continues to play a role in global discussions on peace and stability.
