Cape Town, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Al-Swaha participated in the G20 Artificial Intelligence Ministerial Meeting held in Cape Town, South Africa, emphasizing the transformative role of AI in shaping the global economy and society.
In his remarks, Al-Swaha noted that over the next five years, artificial intelligence is expected to drive economic and social changes comparable to the progress achieved over the past five decades. He stressed the importance of collective action among G20 nations to prevent widening disparities in the emerging smart era.
The minister highlighted Saudi Arabia’s strategy to turn AI-related challenges into opportunities through three key areas: leveraging generative AI to enhance healthcare innovation and accelerate drug discovery for diseases such as diabetes and sickle cell anemia; advancing industrial transformation using agent-based AI to reduce emissions and improve efficiency; and fostering the development of physical AI technologies.
Concluding his address, Al-Swaha reaffirmed the Kingdom’s full support for South Africa’s G20 presidency, underscoring that artificial intelligence should be harnessed as a tool to promote global solidarity, equality, and sustainability.
