Saudi Special Olympics Team Honored for Winning Medals at World Winter Games

Jeddah, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Ambassador to the United States and Honorary President of Saudi Special Olympics, Princess Reema bint Bandar, warmly welcomed the Saudi Special Olympics team members upon their arrival at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on Monday. The Saudi team achieved remarkable success by winning a silver and a bronze medal in the 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games, held in Turin, Italy, which concluded on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Princess Reema commended the unwavering support provided to the sports sector by the Kingdom’s leadership. She stated, “The leadership’s support for the sports sector has yielded many achievements, including this participation and its accomplishments. It also reflects the great commitment to empowering athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities to compete in the largest international sporting events.”
Dr. Maha Al-Juffali, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Special Olympics Federation, praised Princess Reema’s pivotal role in advancing the Special Olympics movement in the Kingdom. She noted, “Princess Reema’s support as Honorary President of the Saudi Special Olympics has significantly contributed to advancing the special Olympics movement’s efforts. This reflects the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which focuses on enhancing the capabilities and empowerment of athletes. This contributes to achieving excellence in various sports at the regional and global levels, enhancing the Kingdom’s position as a global sports destination.”
A large number of Saudi Special Olympics athletes and their families gathered at the airport to celebrate the team’s remarkable achievements, expressing pride in their success on the global stage.
