Schneider Electric Appoints Mitsumi Distribution as Official Secure Power Distributor in East Africa

Nairobi, The Gulf Observer: Schneider Electric has officially named Mitsumi Distribution as its authorized distributor for Secure Power solutions in East Africa, a move aimed at strengthening the company’s regional footprint amid rising demand for data centers and resilient power infrastructure.
Based in Kenya, Mitsumi Distribution operates across 36 countries and partners with over 45 global technology vendors. With nearly three decades of experience in enterprise, volume, and telecom distribution, the company is well-equipped to deliver advanced power solutions tailored to the region’s needs.
“Mitsumi is today a natural fit to drive the expansion of Schneider Electric’s Secure Power portfolio across Africa,” Schneider Electric said in a statement. The Secure Power range includes uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), cooling systems, and edge computing infrastructure—critical components in East Africa’s fast-growing ICT sector.
The announcement marks a renewed collaboration between the two firms, dating back to Schneider Electric’s 2007 acquisition of APC, a former Mitsumi distribution partner.
Ratnakar Vandanapu, Business Unit Head at Mitsumi Distribution, expressed enthusiasm over the partnership:
“We are excited to expand our partnership with Schneider Electric. Our deep market expertise, strong logistical capabilities, and established relationships with over 3,200 reseller partners make us well-positioned to support the growing need for reliable power solutions in the region.”
Ben Selier, Vice President for Secure Power, Anglophone Africa at Schneider Electric, added:
“Partnering with Mitsumi Distribution allows us to efficiently serve customers in the region with our innovative Secure Power portfolio, ensuring uptime and business continuity for critical infrastructures.”
Mitsumi offers value-added services, market insights, and comprehensive end-to-end logistics, including next-day delivery and custom credit options. Its 100,000-square-foot logistics hub in Jebel Ali, Dubai, enhances its ability to scale distribution across East Africa effectively.
With this partnership, Schneider Electric and Mitsumi aim to meet the growing power resilience needs of businesses and institutions across the region, reinforcing infrastructure for digital transformation and economic development.
