Their Royal Highnesses arrived at 7:30 AM and were warmly welcomed by the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Aziz. The event commenced at 7:35 AM as the Selangor Sultan and Tengku Norashikin flagged off participants competing in the 3km and 5km categories.

The Sultan of Selangor and Tengku Permaisuri completed the 3km walk at approximately 8:38 AM, while the Raja Muda of Selangor successfully finished the 5km run.

Following the event, Tengku Zafrul expressed his gratitude to Their Royal Highnesses for their active participation and presence. “The objective of Larian Kita is to engage local residents and participants from outside the district to promote a healthy lifestyle, foster unity, and highlight the area’s potential as a tourism destination,” he said.

The programme also aimed to create awareness of local agricultural and entrepreneurial sectors while raising funds to support residents in need and non-governmental organisations.

Tengku Zafrul highlighted the scenic route of the run through picturesque paddy fields, alongside lively activities and entertainment. The theme, “Lari Bersama Kain Pelikat atau Kain Batik” (Run with kain pelikat or batik), saw approximately 2,500 participants donning traditional attire, adding cultural vibrancy to the event.

The Selangor Sultan expressed hope that the Larian Kita programme would be extended to other districts in the state to foster community engagement and promote a healthy lifestyle. Tengku Zafrul confirmed that the next event would be held in Klang with similar community-driven activities.

The event also saw the participation of several dignitaries, including State Local Government and Tourism Committee Chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim and State Rural Development, Unity, and Consumers Committee Chairman Datuk Rizam Ismail.

Larian Kita served as a platform for people of all ages to come together, not only to embrace physical fitness but also to celebrate unity and cultural heritage in a meaningful and lively atmosphere.
