Senate of Uzbekistan, China’s Audit Office Pledge Stronger Ties in Public Finance and Legislation

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The Auditor-General of the National Audit Office of the People’s Republic of China, Hou Kai, paid an official visit to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, where he held talks with Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva on deepening cooperation in public finance oversight and budget transparency.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the critical role of interaction between the Accounts Chamber and the Parliament in the formation of the state budget and ensuring its effective use. The discussions highlighted opportunities for expanding cooperation with China in the fields of audit, personnel training, and enhancement of the legislative framework governing fiscal oversight.
Special attention was given to the importance of integrating a gender-sensitive approach in the development of budget policy. The sides noted the need to incorporate gender considerations particularly in trade and economic policy, agriculture, education, healthcare, and the promotion of women’s entrepreneurship.
As part of the dialogue, the parties reached an agreement to initiate joint projects aimed at enhancing parliamentary oversight of local budget formation, in a move to further develop inter-regional cooperation and accountability mechanisms at the grassroots level.
The visit underscores the growing partnership between Uzbekistan and China in public sector governance and fiscal management, aligning with broader bilateral efforts to promote transparency, efficiency, and inclusive development.
