Serdar Berdimuhamedov approves procedure for registering and issuing citizen’s passports
Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: During an online government meeting, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, signed a resolution approving the issuance and usage procedures for the country’s citizen passport.
The resolution also includes the sample and description of the passport. The adoption of this document aligns with the Laws of Turkmenistan on Migration. On the Internal Affairs Bodies, as well as Presidential Decree No. 720 issued on September 2, 2020, which pertains to enhancing the passport system in Turkmenistan, official Turkmen media reported on Friday.
According to the document, replacing an old Turkmen passport with a new one is not mandatory unless there are valid grounds for replacement per Turkmenistan’s legislation.
The decision requires the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice to collaborate and present proposals for amendments and additions to Turkmenistan’s legislation within one month.
