Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President Serdar Berdimuhamedov today welcomed Malaysia’s Foreign Minister, Dato Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, in a meeting aimed at advancing the strong partnership between Turkmenistan and Malaysia. The Malaysian Foreign Minister conveyed greetings from the 17th Supreme Ruler of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality.

President Berdimuhamedov, in turn, extended his warm regards and best wishes to the Malaysian leaders, emphasizing the significance of the visit as a key step in deepening the relationship between the two countries. He expressed confidence that the discussions during the visit would be productive and serve to strengthen cooperation in various sectors.

The meeting underscored the friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia, which are built on the principles of equality and mutual respect. Both nations continue to enjoy thriving cooperation, not only bilaterally but also within international organizations. President Berdimuhamedov expressed his gratitude to Malaysia for supporting Turkmenistan’s policy of positive neutrality and its constructive initiatives within global bodies such as the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement.

Trade and economic relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia were highlighted during the talks, with a particular focus on the oil and gas sector. Malaysia’s PETRONAS, a key player in Turkmenistan’s hydrocarbon industry, has been involved in several joint projects and actively supports the training of highly qualified specialists in the field.

The importance of high-level meetings in enhancing interstate dialogue was emphasized, with President Berdimuhamedov noting his upcoming visit to Malaysia later this year. He expressed optimism that the visit would further solidify the friendly ties between the two nations.

The meeting concluded with both leaders exchanging wishes for good health, prosperity, and continued success in their respective roles.
